Pumpkin Fluff-pumpkin, Greek yogurt, pumpkin spice, & marshmallows combine in one bowl for a quick, creamy dessert that tastes just like pumpkin pie.

There's something undeniably magical about the arrival of autumn. The crisp air, the colorful leaves, and, of course, the abundance of pumpkin-spiced everything. And this pumpkin fluff is the perfect treat to tame your cravings for rich pumpkin flavor and irresistible spice.

Why This is The Best Pumpkin Fluff Recipe!

This was inspired by the famous pumpkin pie we all know and love. However, this pumpkin fluff recipe only needs to be chilled, not baked, which saves you oven space and baking time during the holiday hustle and bustle.

The recipe begins similarly to my Mandarin Orange Fluff by mixing Greek yogurt with the base flavor, which in this case is pumpkin. Then, pumpkin spice blend, espresso powder, and cheesecake instant pudding are added to flavor and set the mixture.

The last two steps are to whisk in thawed Cool Whip and fold in mini marshmallows and chopped pecans. Because it's not a fluff without the fluff!

This fluff dessert is very customizable; you can add more or less of the coffee, spice, and marshmallows, and you can even omit the nuts and the coffee.

Best of all, this is a great alternative to pumpkin pie that everyone will love!

    So, let's cook!

    Ingredient Notes

The ingredients, clockwise from top left: plain Greek Yogurt, canned pumpkin puree, instant espresso, pumpkin pie spice, mini marshmallows, chopped pecans, frozen whipped topping (Cool Whip), and cheesecake instant pudding mix.

Here's what you need to make this delicious Pumpkin Fluff recipe:

    • Libby's 100% Pure Pumpkin - Be sure the can says 100% Pure Pumpkin and not Pumpkin Pie Filling or Pie Mix.
    • Plain Greek Yogurt - I use Greek yogurt that is whole milk or at least 4% milk fat.
    • Cheesecake Instant Pudding - I use small packages, each 3 ounces, of cheesecake instant pudding. But you can also use vanilla.
    • Instant Espresso Powder - Instant espresso adds depth to the flavor of this fluff. 1 teaspoon is enough, but you can add up to 2 teaspoons if you like coffee.
    • Pumpkin Pie Spice - Pumpkin pie spice is what makes this fluff taste just like pumpkin pie.
    • Frozen Whipped Topping - I use regular Cool Whip and let it thaw in the fridge.
    • Mini Marshmallows - You'll need two cups of vanilla mini marshmallows, which is about half of a 10-ounce package.
    • Chopped Pecans - Just a small amount of nuts add a little crunch to this pumpkin pie fluff. I like pecans, and walnuts are good too.

    Optional Garnishes:

    • Whipped Topping
    • Chopped or Whole Pecans

Please see the recipe card for the exact quantities.

    Substitutions & Variations

    • Use Vanilla Pudding. Instead of cheesecake, you can use vanilla instant pudding.
    • Omit the Espresso. Not everyone loves coffee, and since it is only a backdrop flavor, you can omit the powdered espresso.
    • Substitute Walnuts. Instead of pecans, you can use walnuts.
    • Omit the Nuts. You can totally omit the nuts and have a delicious pumpkin pie fluff!

How to Make The Best Pumpkin Fluff

Process Photo 1a - In a large mixing bowl: Greek yogurt, pumpkin, instant pudding, espresso powder, and pumpkin pie spice.
Process Photo 1b - Mixing the Greek yogurt, pumpkin, instant pudding, espresso powder, and pumpkin pie spice.

Step #1 - Combine. Use a wire whisk to mix the Greek yogurt, canned pumpkin, cheesecake instant pudding, instant espresso powder, and pumpkin pie spice in a large mixing bowl.

Process Photo 2a - Whisking thawed Cool Whip topping into the the pumpkin mixture.
Process Photo 2b - Cool Whip topping is fully whisked into the the pumpkin mixture.

Step #2 - Whisk. Whisk in the thawed whipped topping and beat until well combined.

Process Photo 3a - Mini marshmallows and chopped pecans are added to the pumpkin fluff mixture.
Process Photo 3b - The mini marshmallows and chopped pecans are completely folded into the fluff.

Step #3 - Fold. Fold in the chopped pecans and mini marshmallows.

Pumpkin Spice Fluff in a white bowl surrounded with autumn decorations.

Step #4 - Chill. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the pumpkin fluff dessert for at least 2 hours for the flavors to develop. If desired, garnish each serving with a dollop of whipped topping and chopped or whole pecans. Serve and enjoy!

    My Top Tip

♡ Letting the fluff chill allows the flavors to develop. If you immediately taste the fluff right after mixing, it will taste more like cheesecake if you use the cheesecake pudding. But after 2 hours, it will taste like your favorite pumpkin pie.

    Pumpkin Fluff FAQs

    What is Pumpkin Fluff?

Pumpkin Fluff is a creamy, no-bake pumpkin dessert made with pumpkin puree, Greek yogurt, instant pudding mix, and whipped topping.

Is Pumpkin Fluff the same as Pumpkin Mousse or Pumpkin Dip?

Both Pumpkin Mousse and Pumpkin Dip require a stand mixer to make the mixture light and fluffy, and both may contain cream cheese.

Pumpkin Fluff doesn't contain cream cheese and can be made with a whisk.

What can I serve with Pumpkin Fluff?

Simple and plain butter cookies, graham crackers, Nilla Wafers, Vanilla Wafers, coffee, and milk are all delicious with Pumpkin Fluff.

Can I use fresh pumpkin instead of canned pumpkin puree?

Yes, you can use fresh pumpkin if it is cooked and pureed to a thick and smooth consistency.

What holidays or occasions are best for serving Pumpkin Fluff?

Fall Gatherings, Halloween parties, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and potlucks.

Can I use Pumpkin Fluff as a pie filling or dessert topping?

Yes, you can make a Pumpkin Fluff Pie. Pile pumpkin fluff into a baked pie shell or store-bought graham cracker crust for a completely no-bake pumpkin pie.

However, if you want to use it as a dessert topping, you need to adjust the fluff recipe to be thinner by reducing the pudding mix to 1 package and omitting the marshmallows and the nuts.
